D-Day Pocket Smoky Quartz with Amazonite

Smoky Hawk Claim, Florissant, Teller Co., Colorado, USA

Smoky quartz from the legendary D-Day Pocket at Colorado’s Smoky Hawk Claim is exceptionally rare, with the pocket discovered and fully mined in 2012. Known for producing some of the finest amazonite in the region, it yielded world-class specimens defined by vivid electric-blue amazonite and deep, nearly black smoky quartz.

The striking contrast between the two minerals, together with their exceptional color and crystal quality, has made D-Day Pocket specimens highly sought after by collectors worldwide. Now exhausted and unreproducible, each specimen stands as a unique piece of Colorado’s mineral history and a prized addition to any collection.
