※Opal Care Instructions
Opals are delicate gemstones whose primary "enemies" are extreme dryness, oils, and chemicals. To preserve their internal brilliance and longevity, please follow these essential care guidelines:
1. Avoid Chemical Contact
Opals are naturally porous and can absorb oils from perfumes, lotions, or perspiration. This absorption may cause the stone to discolor or lose its Play-of-Color (the iridescent fire). After wearing, gently wipe the surface with a soft, dry cloth to remove any residues.
2. Maintain Temperature & Humidity Stability
Because Opals contain a significant amount of water within their structure, they are sensitive to environmental shifts. Avoid prolonged exposure to intense light, high heat, or extremely dry conditions, as these can lead to Crazing (fine surface cracking).
3. Understanding Natural Variations
It is a natural physical characteristic of Opals to undergo temporary shifts in transparency or fire due to changes in environmental humidity. These variations are a testament to the stone's organic origin and are not considered quality defects.
